103 Villages - The Forced Evacuation of Arpalık, 7th February 1964
Today marks the 57th Anniversary of the ethnic cleansing of Turkish Cypriots from their home village of Arpalık (Agios Sozomenos). Hear first hand testimony from the villagers from who fled their homes, forced out in a two day tirade of violence, never to return. Once known as the larder of Cyprus, it's abundant produce feeding Turkish Cypriots who were persecuted, murdered and driven from their homes by EOKA and Greek Cypriot countrymen who had turned their back on their fellow Cypriots in pursuit of the Greek Dream of Enosis (union with Greece).
