Istanbul Complete Set Turkish Language Course Books 5 Books for Beginner to Advanced Levels: A1 A2 B

by Gul Gonultas (Author), Enver Gedik (Author), Funda Keskin (Author)

This is a series of study books which are graded from A1 & A2 – basic, B1 & B2 Intermediate and C1 & C2 Advanced. There is a course book and a work book for each level, together with a CD. Each book is divided into 6 chapters which are designed to be worked through within a class. I am not aware of any Turkish teacher on the island using this set of course books to teach Turkish.

Uses a range of different types of exercises to help you practise Turkish, including reading and understanding. Comprehension exercises, talking exercises.

Once you have completed some basic Turkish then these are an ideal resource to reinforce what you are learning by self-study. The only downside is that although answers are provided to the workbook exercises there are no answers to the course book exercises.

On the plus side these are relatively modern and provide an insight into Turkish culture, the subjects chosen for the sections are relevant to today and hence the vocabulary provided is more useful than some books.

These books are designed so that you learn to speak, listen and read in parallel with learning grammar which is often a criticism of Turkish lessons which focus on the grammar, but do not assist student to learn to speak.

Available – new from Deniz a Plaza and other bookshops, Available on Amazon but more expensive
