Must Visit: Fully Renovated Archaeological Museum of Pafos District

Following years of renovations, the Archaeological Museum of Pafos (Paphos) has finally opened its doors, and it has been worth the wait! Upgraded and enriched, step into the museum and you’ll soon be traveling back in time as you get better acquainted with the fascinating history of Pafos, and of Cyprus as a whole.

Housing a collection of finds from the Pafos region dating from the Neolithic Age to 1700 AD, you’ll be taken on a journey through the Chalcolithic and Bronze Age, to the Iron Age and Classical period, then the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and on to the late Roman and early Christian periods, Byzantine Period and Middle Ages. There are also some interesting exhibits on display from recent excavations.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a rare bust of Aphrodite and marble statue of Asklepios, as well as a tombstone from Marion (once a city-kingdom in the Akamas region) with the Cyprosyllabic script. The museum as a whole is linked to the Aphrodite Cultural Route.
